About Anthony Sims

Anthony Sims is a contemporary painter from a small town called Lewisburg, Mississippi, located in the Mississippi Delta. It is within this region of the United States that Anthony learned to create and develop his art style. Sims began his art career in 2017 upon being awarded two Silver Keys from the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art his senior year of high school. It wasn’t long afterwards that Anthony would begin displaying art in local galleries and magazines.

In mid-2019, Anthony moved to Dallas, Texas, at the age of 20. During his time in Dallas, he was featured in over 10 publications and 20 exhibitions. Of these exhibitions 7 were international, 3 were in museums, and 3 were on billboards. The three most notable shows were Sims’ first solo show in Los Angeles, his first international solo show in Mexico City, and his billboard in Time Square. Sims moved back to Mississippi in the second half of 2023.

When observing Anthony's works it is important to keep in mind that the raw, chaotic energy behind his painting style is a manifestation of his culture. Without the influence of the Delta Blues there would be no American Folk, Rock & Roll, Hip-Hop, or Jazz. Therefore, the birthplace of America’s music is the source that shaped Anthony’s brutal yet visceral expressions.
